Goal of the Activity

The #EUvote campaign aimed to empower European Union citizens, particularly the Erasmus Generation and young people, to actively participate in the 2024 European Elections by fostering an informed, conscious, and engaged electorate. The campaign pursued this goal through three key objectives. First, it aimed to provide a comprehensive and accessible understanding of the European Union’s history, emphasizing pivotal moments, challenges overcome, and the successes that have shaped the EU into what it is today. The campaign highlighted the core values of the EU—democracy, human rights, peace, solidarity, and cultural diversity—that remain at the heart of its ongoing journey. Special attention was given to the Erasmus program, exploring its origins, evolution, and its role in promoting these values across generations. Second, the campaign sought to promote voter participation, especially among young citizens, by utilizing engaging social media content to inspire them to exercise their right to vote. By doing so, it reinforced the importance of active participation in the democratic process, while strengthening a shared European identity. Lastly, the campaign provided essential information about voting procedures, offering clear, practical guides for various groups, including Italians living abroad, foreign nationals in Italy, and international students. This ensured that all eligible voters, regardless of their background or location, understood how to participate in the elections. Through these efforts, the #EUvote campaign worked to mobilize an informed and empowered electorate, ensuring that European citizens recognized the power of their vote in shaping the future of Europe.

Description

ESN Italy, in anticipation of the European Elections held between June 6th and 9th, 2024, developed a dynamic and engaging transmedia campaign, #EUvote, designed to encourage active participation in the democratic process. The campaign’s core objective was to empower European Union citizens, especially the younger generation, to vote in the elections, highlighting the significance of this moment for the future of Europe. The campaign aimed to educate and inform citizens about the EU's rich history and guiding principles, while also providing an accessible and comprehensive overview of the voting options, including registration processes, voter eligibility, and the impact of the European Parliament on daily life. By creating accessible, engaging, and informative content across multiple media channels, the #EUvote campaign sought to foster a sense of responsibility and engagement among citizens, underscoring the importance of an informed, conscious, and active vote in shaping the future of the European Union.
