To produce a radio programme that can be enjoyed by both the local and international community. To provide entertainment as well as an online place to socialise.
We gathered a team of volunteers interested in producing the show. Some of the volunteers were completely inexperienced, while others had some experience in radio broadcasts and they shared their knowledge with the rest. We arranged several (online) meetings with the team, where we discussed potential themes for the show as well as other content that would be shared on air. We gathered all our ideas in an Excel file. We also held several training meetings, in order to familiarize the organizers with the neccesary IT tools (Voicemeter banana mixer, discord). In the end the chosen theme was Christmas. We prepared a playlist with Christmas songs as well as topics to be discussed during the show(e.g most popular Christmas destinations, origins of Santa Claus etc.). Furthermore, we created an anonymous google form, which we shared on our social media, where we asked our followers to share Christmas traditions with us or anything else they wanted. We read their responses on air. Finally, on the day of the event, we modified the Discord server we use for online events, so it contained only the necessary channels, to make it more user friendly and avoid any confusion. We'd started promoting the event through our social media 3 days prior to the designated date, to maximize its visibility and get our audience motivated.
On the set date and time we gathered on Discord and the participants were instructed to join the designated voice channel. Only the radio hosts had permission to speak in that channel.
