Protests from arrested people became a simbol of rebellion: the "Stonewall Riots". The riots lasted for several days and are considered a turning point in the fight for civil rights. The year after some rally happened in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco to remember last year's riots. Year after year the number of cities joining the list of those participating in these event was rosing steadly, therefore Pride Month was established.
