Goal of the Activity

The aim of this event is to raise awareness about celiac disease, foster understanding and empathy within ESN Erciyes, and support friends with celiac disease by learning about their experiences and challenges. By visiting a gluten-free café, trying gluten-free foods, and engaging in meaningful conversations, we aim to educate participants on the importance of a gluten-free diet for those with celiac disease. Additionally, it provides a supportive and inclusive environment for all members, helping to build a stronger, more informed community that is sensitive to the needs of individuals with dietary restrictions.

Description

As ESN Erciyes, we celebrated Celiac Awareness Day by visiting a gluten-free café and spending quality time together. This outing provided a wonderful opportunity to listen to our friends with celiac disease share their personal experiences and challenges living with the condition. We learned about the importance of maintaining a gluten-free diet and the impact it has on their daily lives. Additionally, we tried various gluten-free foods, discovering delicious new options and gaining a better understanding of the dietary adjustments our friends make. The experience was both educational and enlightening, fostering a greater sense of empathy and understanding within our group. We left with a deeper appreciation for the resilience and strength of those managing celiac disease.
