Celebrate the second Anniversary of ESN Armenia
Create a space for local and international students to speak about racism and discrimination through Intercultural dialogue
This event was special for ESN Armenia, as we combined several important activities for our oganisation:
We celebrated the 2nd anniversary of ESN Armenia as an official member of ESN International, organized our Autumn NA with our volunteers and invited guests from partner organizations.
The event were containing several activites: intercultural dinner with 7+ participating countries, workshop about "Racism and discrimination", networking with partners, birthday celebration.
In Intercultural Dinner we had 30+ parcticipants overall (10+ international students from 7+ countries and 20+ our local volunteers).
Each country has the opportunity to share their culture by organizing games, singing, doing presentation, representing national food or drink.
At the same day we organized a workshop "Intercultural dialogue: Racism and discrimination" by Eleonora Sargsyan.
Number of participants - 20
Duration - 2 hours, 15 minutes
Goal - to empower participants with the knowledge and skills to engage in meaningful intercultural dialogue, addressing racism and discrimination in diverse settings.
Agenda:
I. Introduction (15 minutes)
Welcome and icebreaker activities to create a warm atmosphere
II. Understanding Racism and Discrimination (45 minutes)
- Interactive exercises to identify and challenge personal biases
- Small group discussions on strategies for recognizing and mitigating bias
III. Communication Strategies for Challenging Conversations (45 minutes)
- Effective communication techniques when discussing racism and discrimination
- Group reflections on challenges and successes in communication
VI. Cultural Sensitivity and Inclusivity (30 minutes)
- Practical exercises to foster an inclusive environment
- Group discussions on promoting diversity and equity in various settings
The session was for both international and local students/volunteers who in the end were equip with tools to promote cultural sensitivity and inclusivity in various settings, fostering a more equitable and diverse environment.
In the end we celebrated the second anniversary of ESN Armenia all together. It was a small party with out partners, registered guests, international and local students and out volunteers.
