The goal of the hiking trip to Cascada Urlătoarea in the Bucegi Mountains was to promote student well-being through outdoor physical activity, while fostering social connections and an appreciation for Romania’s natural landscapes. The event aimed to provide a healthy and enjoyable break from the academic routine, encourage sustainable and respectful behavior in nature, and support the integration of international students through shared experiences in a culturally and environmentally rich setting.
The hike to Cascada Urlătoarea was a nature-focused day trip aimed at bringing together international and local students for a refreshing outdoor experience in the Bucegi Mountains. The group met early in the morning at Gara de Nord in Bucharest and took the train to Bușteni, where the hike began. The route was approximately 5 kilometers long, with a moderate difficulty level and an elevation gain of 250 meters.
Participants were advised to wear layered, waterproof clothing and bring essentials such as water, food, and extra clothes to ensure a safe and comfortable journey. Along the way, students enjoyed breathtaking views of the winter landscape and the iconic Urlătoarea Waterfall, while bonding with fellow participants in a relaxed and natural environment.
The event emphasized sustainable tourism and environmental responsibility, with reminders to pack light and avoid littering. After the hike, participants had the flexibility to explore Bușteni or nearby Azuga before returning home by train.
Overall, the activity promoted physical and mental well-being, social interaction, and an appreciation for Romania’s natural heritage.
