Goal of the Activity

The goal of the activity is to empower buddies and active members of ESN by demonstrating the value of their involvement in an NGO as well as empowering Erasmus students by enhancing their awareness of how mobility experiences contribute to their development. We aim to help these young adults recognize the valuable skills they acquire through their international experiences and voluntary involvement, such as adaptability, communication, and cross-cultural understanding. With this activity, Erasmus students, buddies and ESN members can learn to articulate these competencies effectively in their career planning and job applications, thereby harnessing their mobility experience for personal and professional growth.

Description

The workshop was successfully conducted to explore and emphasize how mobility experiences can enhance future careers. The event attracted a diverse group of participants, including ESN members, friends of ESN, and Erasmus students, providing a rich environment for discussion and learning.
Discussions mainly facilitated Erasmus Career Compass and went through the following topics:
Types of Mobility: Participants explored different mobility programs such as Erasmus semesters abroad for students and teachers, traineeships, European Solidarity Corps, Erasmus Mundus, and short-term projects. They shared personal experiences to highlight the scope and impact of each type.

  1. Experiential Sharing: Attendees discussed the personal challenges and learning opportunities encountered during their mobility experiences, such as adjusting to living alone, managing budgets, and integrating into new cultures.
  2. Skill Development: A collaborative session helped identify and discuss critical skills gained through mobility, like leadership, communication, and teamwork. The discussion emphasized the transferability of these skills to professional settings.
  3. Enhancing Employability: The workshop provided strategies for effectively incorporating mobility experiences into job applications and CVs. It focused on presenting these experiences as valuable assets to potential employers.
  4. Career Aspirations: Participants reflected on their career goals and how the skills acquired through mobility align with these ambitions. The session offered insights into applying these skills to specific job roles.
  5. CV Optimization: The final discussion centered on best practices for highlighting mobility experiences in CVs, focusing on demonstrating relevant skills, international exposure, and project involvement.
The workshop was well-received, with participants expressing appreciation for the insights gained and the practical guidance provided on leveraging their Erasmus and other mobility experiences for career advancement. Many found the session particularly useful for understanding how to effectively frame and discuss their international experiences in professional contexts.
