The goal of the activity was to clean up a hiking trail in Lessinia, from Roncari to Campofontana, passing by Giazza.
We met up with "Ne Basta Uno", a volunteering association that aims to clean up the hiking trails of Lessinia. After sharing a cappuccino (kindly offered by them), we got handed gloves and trash bags and got divided into group according to which type of trash we were supposed to pick up (e.g. cigarette buts, plastic, glass etc), then got on our way.
Along the road we encountered cats and dogs, we gave carrots to horses and passed through a field where cows were grazing the grass, all the while collecting any trash we could find and sorting it accordingly. Halfway through, we sat in a field and ate our packed lunch, making sure not to leave anything behind (not even banana peel!), and once we got back to the parking lot, we sat in a bar and chatted about the day.
One of the girls from the volunteering team asked the Erasmus students to share their thoughts about the experience in their native language, so that she could compile the videos in an Instagram reel, and when asked if they would participate in something like this again, all of them said yes! Overall, the weather was really nice, the views were beautiful, we were a group of 35 people and everyone was always talking with someone, people were enjoying themselves and we are already planning to meet up again!
