The aim of the animal shelter visit was to motivate the students to voluteer in their free time during their Erasmus in Hungary . In Debrecen we have the chance to volunteer in a dog shelter, they can take a dog for a walk or just play with them. We also brought some donation, which were dog food, blankets and dog snacks.
On Sunday morning we met the students at the main bus station in the city centre at 8 am. We went to the shelter by bus in two rounds, because of the huge number of people. There were more students than we expected. At first we gave the donation to the dog shelter, and than we took around 20-25 dogs for a walk. Each pair had one dog. After the walk in the nature with the dogs we went back to the shelter, and visited the other dogs. around 12 o'clock we went back to the city by bus.
The result is that we should organise this event more often, not just twice a year, becaue a lot of students are interested. Despite the rainy weather we were 60 all together, it was a surprisingly huge number for this event. All of us really enjoyed the walk with the cute dogs . Some students gave money donation too to the shelter.
