Goal of the Activity

The goal was to make erasmus students discover the biodiversity offered by the Astino Valley, not far away from the city centre and promote sustainable mobility.

Description

At lunch we had a picnic together in the old city of Bergamo, after which we walked along the cobbled pathways conducing to the Botanic Garden, part  of the Biodiversity Valley surrounding the city. A volunteer of the association taking care of this place offered us a guided tour, thanks to which we got to know what agricultural biodiversity is and could touch, smell and observe the varieties of vegetables and plants found there. We were explained that they are implementing a project consisting of a a specific method for olive trees cultivation and have a space dedicated to beehives. At the end of the tour we also had the chance to visit the near ancient monastery cloister and Santo Sepolcro's Church.
