Goal of the Activity

This activity aims to correlate physical activity and exercise with taking a tour in a famous city of Greece.
This event is taking part during the Health and Well-being Week and the main goal is to urge students and others to leave their couches and the comfort of their homes and help them integrate physical exercise into their lifestyles. Cycling is a very famous, safe, "green" and well-accepted sport that does not require any physical condition or equipment , it just needs to know how to ride a bike.
It is the best way to explore the city, the monuments, hiddens alleys, the beautiful architecture and the numerous markets, coffees, shops and parks and exercise the same time.
Furthermore, cycling promotes the mind-set of a green city with no crowded roads and avenues and the mentality of combining travelling, exercising and sightseeing at the same time.

Description

The event took place at Karavolas spot at the bay area near Talos Plaza in Heraklion, Crete, Greece, where there are free city bikes provided by the Municipality of Heraklion.
The ESN team made a discussion and gained the permission by the Deputy Major of Heraklion to collaborate with the Municipality of Heraklion in order to let us use the free city bikes for a couple of hours, given the fact that we have to keep distances and apply all safety measures against the corona-virus pandemic.

Students need to remember to bring some form of identification with them (academic ID, national ID, passport) in order to gain permission to ride the bike.

The ESN event is non-profit and organised by students on a voluntary basis.
