The main goal was to show a traditional Croatian wedding with all its ancient customs that are still used today. These are e.g. buying the bride, the arrival of the fake bride, cutting the cake, removing the garter, throwing the bouquet, the first dance with the bride, the escape of the newlyweds during the celebration and much more. The goal was to explain and show foreign students something that is traditionally ours so that they can understand us better.
The initiative was called Croatian wedding and it happened od June 1, 2024 in Zadar and was a local culture event. All ESN Zadar volunteers participated in the organization of the event, and our guests were Erasmus students. First it was only one idea then we started planning, looking for sponsors, the bride and groom, we even held a casting for the groom but we discovered that the best choice and role was the ESN Zadar volunteer, so the bride and groom were also our team members. It took us 2 months to prepare everything. We found sponsors for the food, drinks, cake, bouquet, veil and gifts for the guests, so we started the realization and writing of each role in order to be able to show the Croatian wedding and customs in the best possible way. We even managed to find students who can play, so we had a live band. In a couple of hours, we showed all our customs at weddings and in the end, even though it was an act, we all sincerely enjoyed it as if it were something real.
