Through live performances, traditional music, and historical dance, the event aimed to foster cultural exchange, strengthen the connection between international students and the local community, and showcase the richness and diversity of Portugal’s heritage. By creating an immersive and enjoyable environment, the event sought to help ERASMUS students feel integrated, informed, and inspired as they begin their experience in Portugal.
The Country Meeting – Portugal Edition offered incoming ERASMUS students an immersive and vibrant introduction to Portuguese culture, traditions, and artistic expression. Held with the aim of bringing international students closer to the essence of Portugal, the event combined music, performance, and historical reenactment into a dynamic cultural showcase.
One of the highlights of the evening was the performance by the Cavaleiras de Sellium, a local equestrian-inspired artistic group known for celebrating Portuguese heritage through choreography and symbolic representation. Their presentation brought a touch of elegance, tradition, and historical depth to the event, captivating the audience with their strong visual identity rooted in regional culture.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, the “band” of the Polytechnic of Tomar delivered a lively musical performance filled with energy and community spirit. Their repertoire reflected both contemporary student culture and the warm, welcoming character of Tomar, helping create an engaging environment where ERASMUS students felt included and celebrated.
The evening also featured the enchanting presence of Trebaruna, a renowned organization dedicated to the revival and performance of medieval dances. Their show transported participants back in time, showcasing the rhythms, gestures, and communal spirit of medieval Iberian traditions. Through movement and storytelling, Trebaruna offered a unique window into Portugal’s historical layers and cultural continuity.
Together, these performances created a rich and memorable experience, allowing ERASMUS students to discover Portugal not only through facts and explanations but through live expression—art, music, dance, and heritage brought to life. The Country Meeting – Portugal Edition succeeded in its mission: to welcome international students with authenticity, creativity, and a proud celebration of what makes Portuguese culture unique.
