The activity aimed to promote the social inclusion of our Erasmus students in the local community. Many of them chose to stay in Trento for their Christmas vacation, so we suggested this project and they were eager to participate. They had the opportunity to attend the typical Italian Christmas lunch/dinner as guests of families from Trento. Our goal with this project was to directly involve them in the local community. In addition, it provided them with a chance to experience authentic Christmas traditions in Italy. The local community was very interested in becoming a part of the project. As a matter of fact, this was the second year of this project and we were glad to see that local community decided to get involved again.
Both Italian families and Erasmus students were required to fill out a Google form to participate in the project. By doing this, it was possible to create matches and connect students and families. Afterwards, we connected the families with the guest students, allowing them to arrange lunch or Christmas dinner independently. Clearly, we were ready to help with any problem or doubt.
The project provided an opportunity to bring together people and cultures from different countries. Erasmus students and families have been enriched by the extensive linguistic and cultural exchange that has occurred, which has contributed to a very important project.
The project was designed to ensure that Erasmus students were not left alone during the Christmas holidays, but ultimately it contributed to mutual enrichment and growth for all participants.
