The goal of the Charity Baking Sale was to gather funds for a donation to the care center for homeless people of Caritas Mannheim. Furthermore, we wanted to offer dessert specialties from around the world to all students and staff of the university.
The Charity Baking Sale took place on a tuesday between 12pm and 3pm in the foyer of the university building. A week before that, we asked the international students to contribute typical desserts of their home country to the sale. Every contributor had to pay for the ingredients on their own as a form of donation. Then, the ESN volunteers collected the desserts and sold them at a prepared booth. Advertisement for the sale was made on our instagram page and in the ESN Whatsapp group. We decided against having printed posters for environmental reasons.
Because the plan for the Charity Baking Sale originated in the idea for a Cooking for the Homeless-event, we decided to donate all proceeds specifically to the care center for homeless people in Mannheim, which we agreed upon with Caritas. The customers of the sale were able to decide on their own, how much they wanted to give for a good cause to get some dessert.
