Goal of the Activity

To educate and inform local students about the Buddy System and how to become a helpful Buddy.

Description

The Buddy System Training aims to provide new volunteers with essential knowledge and practical tips to support Erasmus students effectively. The session begins with an introduction to ESN, explaining its mission and how the Buddy System plays a crucial role in helping international students integrate into their new environment. Volunteers will learn about their responsibilities as a buddy, including being a friendly guide, providing assistance with academic and daily life challenges, and fostering social inclusion.

Also includes academic difficulties such as course selection, exams, and language barriers, as well as everyday life issues like finding accommodation, using public transport etc.

To enhance their effectiveness, volunteers will receive practical tips on communication, problem-solving, and encouraging participation in ESN activities. They will also learn how to handle potential challenges, such as misunderstandings or bureaucratic obstacles, and where to find reliable support when needed. The training will include an overview of useful resources, including university contacts, ESN members, important local services, and apps that can assist Erasmus students.

Finally, the session will conclude with discussion based on real-life scenarios, allowing volunteers to practice their skills. A Q&A session will provide an opportunity for trainees to address any concerns and clarify their responsibilities.
