The goal of the "Breakfast & Museums" event was to warmly welcome our new members and Erasmus students during Welcome Week, allowing them to explore the rich cultural heritage of Ankara while bonding with one another. Through this event, we aimed to create lasting connections, introduce our guests to Turkish traditions, and showcase the city’s historic treasures.
On the morning of September 29, 2024, we gathered at Bacchus, a charming restaurant nestled in the bustling district of Hamamönü, for a traditional Turkish breakfast. This delicious introduction to Turkish culture allowed us to connect over an array of flavors, as we enjoyed fresh simit, cheeses, olives, jams, and, of course, endless cups of Turkish tea. With 20 participants, the breakfast served as the perfect icebreaker, sparking conversations and friendships.
After breakfast, our journey continued with a tour of Ankara’s most iconic museums. Our first stop was the Rahmi M. Koç Museum, a fascinating space where four unique collections come together, allowing us to explore everything from industrial heritage to vintage vehicles. With each exhibit, we delved deeper into Ankara’s cultural legacy, guided by stories that brought history to life. Next, we made our way to the Anadolu Medeniyetleri (Anatolian Civilizations) Museum, a national gem that houses extraordinary artifacts tracing Anatolia's ancient history. The exhibits offered a window into the region’s rich tapestry, from ancient pottery to intricate jewelry, reminding us of the depth of the land's past.
By late afternoon, our museum explorations came to a close. We gathered once more, expressing our gratitude and the bittersweet feeling of parting after a day so filled with discovery, laughter, and friendship. Each of us left with a heart full of memories and new connections to cherish.
