The goal of the activity was to make friends without initial judgments and without the use of one of our five senses. For this reason, all students partecipating in the activitity were blindfolded.
Why blindfolded? The first reason, was to eliminate the initial judgments one can have when encountering a person for the first time. These initial judgments, not only are harmful, they also preclude us from meeting some amazing people! For this reason, the motto of the event was "Don't judge a book by its cover!". Secondly, too often we take for granted all the privileges we have, and that includes the possibility of using all five of our senses. With these activity, not only did we want to break prejudices and judgments, but we also wanted to give an opportunity to better understand what it is like to meet a person and move around in places you barely know while not being able to use one of your five senses.
Finally, the activity ended with a little blind taste test!
We tried to carry out the activity in the most sustainable way. In fact, we used the app "Too good to go" for the food and we asked students to bring something to use has a blindfold (some got really creative!)
We set up two rows of chairs, one in front of eachother. We then told the students to put their blindfolds on, and we proceeded to help students find their way to a seat (we went up to the students, introduced ourselves and asked their permission to help them). Every 6 minutes the students had to change seats, in this way everyone talked to everyone.
Once everyone had talked to everyone we did the blind taste test
