To help students explore the basics of democracy in an engaging, fun, and accessible way through simulations, workshops, and discussions.
Beyond the Ballot Box is an interactive event created together with the NATO Youth Ambassadors, designed especially for students who feel that politics is confusing, boring, or “not for them.” No prior knowledge is needed — only curiosity. Participants step into a democracy simulation where they take on roles, negotiate, and make decisions to understand how political systems work from the inside. The event continues with a hands-on workshop that shows simple and practical ways young people can positively shape their communities. Throughout the evening, we encourage open and relatable discussions without complicated political jargon. The atmosphere is welcoming and international, making it perfect for Erasmus students who want to learn something new, connect with others, and have fun at the same time. The goal is to show that democracy is more than rules — it is about people, participation, and the power each person holds.
