The goal of the activity is to teach the Erasmus students to make the most traditional Bulgarian dish in a few variations while having a friendly competition.
The event had 3 main parts - cooking 4 types of Banitsa, doing a Bulgarian quiz, tasting the Banitsas and choosing the best one.
We prepared 4 recipes with different variations on the traditional Bulgarian dish Banitsa. The students assembled 4 teams and prepared the dishes. Every team had one Bulgarian coordinator to help.
While the Banitsas were baking the 4 teams competed in a Bulgarian quiz, showcasing everything they've learned about their host country.
When the Banitsas were ready we did a tasting and after that a secret voting for the Best Banitsa. The team that won got certificates for mastery of the techniques in rolling and layering an outstanding and delicious Banitsa, a symbol of Bulgarian culinary heritage.
