Goal of the Activity
Discover one of the most important archaeological sites around the city
Description
Through a guided tour, we went to discover the archaeological site of Amiternum, declared a National Monument in 1902.
It's one of the most important Sabine cities, founded in the 10th century BD, which gave birth to Sallust.
Among the most important archaeological remains there are: the amphitheater with the nearby domus of gladiators, the theater of the Augustan age and a villa of the late imperial age, with mosaics and frescoes. Also visible are an urban portion of the Via Caecilia and remains of baths and an aqueduct dating back to the age of Augustus.
