Activities organised by ESN Padova
Here we present you an important event that has affected very closely an area that in recent months has become famous throughout Italy and perhaps in the world. In Vo Euganeo there was the first death of Covid19 in Italy and was, together with Codogno, the first red area in Italy with checkpoints at every border. The main activity of this event was to distribute potatoes to the citizens of Vo. But, why potatoes? Easly, because they are one of the poorest and simplest foods, as It's simple but essential using a mask to safeguard lives. The event was organized in collaboration with the Veneto Imbruttito, the Protezione Civile of Borgo Veneto and the Croce Bianca of Grisignano. For the occasion, since it was red zone, we were able to invite only 1 Erasmus with us.
Nicola, ex ice cream man and Active member, together with other ESNers, organized an online class on the preparation of homemade ice cream, without ice cream maker, only with the ingredients necessary for different flavors, ice and salt to give it consistency. The explanation of the procedures was combined with the history and curiosity of the ice cream, which entertained the Erasmus and which we believe is the connection point that fascinates them and that makes them choose to follow this type of activity, instead of watching a video procedure on Youtube . During the lesson we talked about an important part of Italian culture and, why not, also we tried to give the idea that ice cream can be healthy, if done well. Health and well being tip: no cream or condensed milk, the only ingredients for a lemon ice cream are water, sugar and lemon juice! The event lasted just over 2 hours and various types of ice cream were prepared: lemon, chocolate, strawberry, cheesecake.
Inspired by the Youtube channel "Jubilee" and its "Spectrum" format, we organized a virtual round table in which the Erasmus students could discuss, without filters, on various issues of contemporary society and the Erasmus generation. Through the functionality of the surveys on Zoom, we asked several questions, to which the Erasmus could express how much they agreed or disagreed with these statements. This, gave us the possibility to have an overview of their opinion on this topic and subsequently, for each question, a discussion was held where they expressed their ideas, moderated by ESNers. The questions / statements on which they had to express their agreeableness ranged from stereotypes (eg.I reflect on the stereotypes of my country) to the Erasmus + program (eg.I think Erasmus program is inclusive), from the current situation (eg.I think my country handled Covid well) to issues always current and of which young people use to debate on (eg.I am addicted to Social Media - Technology lowers my creative abilities), passing through questions about Europe (eg.I feel European - I would like to be born in a different country).
