The goal of this activity is to help students in building healthy habits by establishing a fixed time and place every week where they can exercise together in a group. We want to motivate them to foster both their physical and mental well-being and provide external motivation to engage in physical exercise. Further, this activity provides a corona-safe possibility to socialize and maintain contact to other students.
On a weekly basis, we meet up at the outdoor running track on our university campus for one hour. We start with a short warm up containing simple exercises, and proceed with interval jogging on the track. Everyone can run at their own pace, but we also try to challenge the participants a little by introducing variations in speed and duration of the intervals (according to everyone's individual abilities). At the end, we do a short slow down and socialize with the participants. A WhatsApp group has been created for internal communication within the group and communication about the activity itself.
