Goal of the Activity

The objective of this activity is to promote active participation of youth and investors in the agri-food sector, as well as to inform about the future initiatives of the World Food Forum (WFF). The event aims to engage FAO members and youth supporters in a dynamic and innovative discussion on critical issues related to sustainability and inclusion in the future of food.

Description

Take part in an exciting and innovative event at FAO’s headquarters in Rome, where we will explore crucial themes related to youth, investment, science and innovation in the agri-food sector. This launch event aims to inform about WFF’s upcoming initiatives and actively involve FAO members and youth advocates.

This year's theme, "Good Food for All, Today and Tomorrow," aims to highlight the importance of a sustainable and inclusive approach to agriculture and food. This year's forum will be particularly significant as it includes the Mid-term Review Forum of the UN Decade of Family Farming, with a strong focus on integrating youth initiatives into technical and policy debates. The goal is to celebrate and strengthen family farming, recognized as essential for diversified and dynamic agri-food systems. Moreover, during the event, we will have the opportunity to explore the initiatives promoted within the WFF, focused on making the agri-food system more sustainable and inclusive, especially in developing countries. The results of past initiatives will be presented and future perspectives discussed, with particular attention to the use of data and the budget for the new year.

The sessions of WFF 2024 will cover crucial themes such as Global Youth Action, Science and Innovation, and Hand-in-Hand Investments, aiming to catalyze concrete changes in global food systems. The forum will also coincide with World Food Day, which this year falls on October 16 under the theme "Right to Food," promoting the importance of food diversity, nutrition, economic accessibility, and food security.

The WFF positions itself as a key event to promote youth action and intergenerational collaborations, essential for addressing global challenges and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
