The goal of the activity was to welcome the newly arrived Erasmus students to our city and have a nice moment together, while having them taste a variety of local and traditional Italian dishes, specifically from the area of Modena and Reggio Emilia.
This event is yearly organized by ESN Modena, as it's a good way to get to know the new exchange students, especially during the welcome weeks. This time it was hosted Self Service Ghilardina, a popular diner in Modena's city center. The participants got to try three dishes: "gnocco fritto with prosciutto", an airy fried dough served with ham, "erbazzone", a savoury pie with a spinach and parmigiano filling, and "risotto al Parmigiano e aceto balsamico", risotto served with Parmigiano and balsamic vinegar, a recognized product from Modena. Everybody enjoyed the evening and particular attention was paid to include participants with food allergies or anybody that followed ethical diet plans. Following the end of the dinner, participants were given leftovers to bring home to avoid food waste.
