The goals of the activity were to go to the shelter, donate toys made of second-hand materials that we made as part of our event a month ago, learn more about the activities of shelters around the world, the problem of homeless animals and legal aspects of animal care in Poland, and take animals from the shelter for a walk.
On 25 May, we invited international students on a trip to the shelter for homeless animals in Gaj. We organised this event as part of Social Impact Days with the help of scouts from the local troop and travelled there by train. Firstly, we donated toys that we made a month ago from second-hand materials in the spirit of the idea of upcycling as part of the "DIY Tug Toys" event. In addition to toys, several foreign students donated animal food that they bought themselves. Afterwards, we participated in a fascinating lecture about the activities of shelters around the world, the problem of animal homelessness and the legal aspects of animal care in Poland. And finally, we took the animals for a walk. Moreover, the event was organised thanks to a grant we received as part of Erasmus Generation in Action. The attendance was about 40 people.
