The main purpose of this activity was to bond the former and current members of the section. Take the first step in this area after many years.
The subgoals of this were to promote the function of the sections alumni community as a source of knowledge and experience usable for any sections members and to make it clear that the section cares and values its former members (to pay attention to the and include them should they desire it in the organization).
The specific goal of the event from a structural point of view was to make an hour-long video meeting where part of the meeting would be structured and part of it freestyle (open questions).
The goal from the content point of view was to enable the alumni involved to share their experiences from their ESN career with other members such as ESN national and local events or others.
Through stories of alumni our former board members to make our current members come to the revelation that talking with those who came before is very valuable from many perspectives.
Since these alumni are also already working full-time to put in question the experiences from ESN and their utility in future life and career.
The target group did not attend as planned and the attendance, in general, was poor. This might have been due to bad planning - bad hour, bad day or maybe even not communicating the event enough in advance.
However, the alumni seemed very happy to share their stories - especially valuable was taking a few photos from their section career (taking those in secret from their FB profiles) and asking them to comment on these photos as they were revealed one by one during the call. This was probably the highlight of the event since it was visible the unexpected rush of memories made the alumni want to share memories they probably themselves did not even knew still have.
It was a very pleasant meeting and ended on a very friendly note. It opened a rather good pretends for any future activities with alumni especially with the two alumni who were the ones in the spotlight. They seem to be willing and happy to spends some of their free time with the section in the future and we showed them we do want that to happen.
