The goal of the "Talkative Nights" event was to provide a fun, informal setting for members to practice and improve their English-speaking skills. By discussing popular TV series and engaging in lighthearted debates, the event encouraged participants to express their opinions, build confidence in speaking, and enhance their fluency in English.
The event, held at Walker’s Tunalı café in central Ankara, started at 6:30 pm and lasted approximately three hours. For this session, the chosen theme was "TV Series and Their Dilemmas," focusing on thought-provoking questions around popular shows. For example, we discussed who was right in the Ross and Rachel breakup scenario from Friends, along with similar scenarios from other series. This setting allowed participants to share their perspectives, often leading to friendly debates, and fostered a relaxed environment for language practice. With nine attendees, the group remained small and interactive, ensuring everyone had the chance to speak and contribute.
