Goal of the Activity

The primary goal of our activity was to create a safe and inclusive environment for our international community, fostering open and respectful communication. We wanted to equip our volunteers with the knowledge and skills needed to promote equality and effectively address issues related to racism and discrimination. By this activity, our organisation seeks to not only educate our volunteers but also empower them to be agents of change within the Erasmus community. We want them to develop a deep understanding of the issues, promote inclusivity and equality in their everyday interactions and become active leaders of the Erasmus Generation.

Description

This activity was organised as a Local Phase of the ESN's project "Speak Out! Developing youth voices against racism and discrimination".

The training day begun at 9 a.m. and finished at 8 p.m. and was divided in three parts with coffee breaks and a lunch break in between.

Our sessions were dedicated to different issues the voulnteers experience working with international students, like:
- Inclusive communication in the intercultural context.
- “Unity in diversity” How to volunteer in the diversificated Network.
- How to organise safe, sustainable and inclusive activity?
- Emotional intelligence. On the way to become leaders of the Erasmus Generation.
- How to say what I want to say?
- From 6 causes to real Social Impact.
- Creating empathic and respectful relations.

Most of sessions were interactive so participants could present their points of view and learn by experience.

During the sessions dedicated to emotional intelligence and creating empathic and respectful relations we prepared for meetings with our international buddies. Every volunteer has one month to organise a meeting with their buddies to have a conversation about their mental health during the mobility period and talk about potential discrimitave situations they could have experienced.
Beneficiaries of the activity will be all buddies of the volunteers (200 - 250 persons) but effects of the activity will be experienced by all international students we work with every day and the local community (500 - 800 persons).
