This workshop/activity provided international students with two easy, yet delicious and healthy, recipes that they could make with everyday ingredients. The main objective of this activity was to promote the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle while in self-isolation, as a way to maintain a balanced diet and a healthy mind. This workshop also aimed at encouraging students to cook more by starting with easy recipes that did not require neither too many ingredients nor too many steps to achieve a delicious result.
By participating in this activity, we hope that the students and participants learned two new simple recipes, as well as acquire a taste for experimenting while cooking, as the two recipes provided were easily modified to suit everyone's taste and dietary needs. Furthermore, we also stressed the importance of learning new healthy habits while in self isolation, not only as a way to keep ourselves occupied but also to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
The workshop was shared both on Facebook and on Instagram, to reach as many participants as possible. The two recipes were shared throughout the day: the smoothie recipe was shared in the morning, as a way of encouraging participants to start their day with a nutritious recipe; the granola bars were shared later, and presented as a healthy snack they could easily make at home.
This activity was well-received by the participants, who enjoyed the recipes provided, as many tried them as soon as they could. Many also expressed that these recipes urged them to start cooking and taking better care of themselves, as being in self-isolation, especially during their mobility semester, was discouraging them from being more active.
