This time we want to take you for something different. Something that, maybe, you never thought you would be doing during your Erasmus! We want to have a cool afternoon with kids from Porto and Erasmus students, all together! These kids come from complicated backgrounds, so we want to reach out and play with them. What do you think?
Our idea is to propose a Tandem. Basically, your ESNers will prepare games and ice breakers so you can start communicating with the kids, even with the language barrier. Then, we ask you to teach them some words in English or even your own language, in an easy & simple way because remember, they are just kids who never had this type of contact before!
In a nice café, you’ll be able to eat, drink and spend a cosy afternoon with the little ones. Isn’t it the perfect plan for a rainy November day? (yes, snacks and drinks are included!).
We had a considerable big group participating in this volunteering activity, however, during the event we got the news that the kids couldn't join us for the activity. For this reason we had to change the main idea of the event. However, we perfomed the activity anyway, creating an afternoon with games and cultural exchange among local and exchange students. The games we had prepared for the kids were played by us and it turned out to be a very interesting and fun event.
