Goal of the Activity

Sexually transmitted infection awareness event

Description

On the occasion of Dec. 1, World AIDS Day, we organized, together with the Arcigay Siena Movimento Pansessuale association and the Segretariato Italiano Studenti di Medicina (SISM), an event to raise awareness of the issue. First and foremost, the day included free testing for HIV, syphilis and hepatitis C, thanks to the participation of doctors and professionals from Siena Hospital. These were followed by a dinner/ aperitif in company and a series of activities and games with the purpose of testing our knowledge about sexually transmitted infections and HIV. We assigned a number of points for each activity, to be marked on a card; games included guessing the mode of transmission of specific infections, or the location of body organs, or the number of condoms contained in jars, or identifying the percentage of risk of acquiring infections based on certain actions. Finally, we at ESN Siena GES organized through kahoot a quiz to be taken all together, which would be the final reflective moment of the activity. The event managed to gather Erasmus, university students and many local people, who got to know each other and discuss the topic; it also allowed us to continue to collaborate with other associations with whom we have been dealing with for many years now
