The objective of this activity was for the international students to better understand the different types of handicap, to confront oneself to another reality, to share with others, and to open oneself/ talk and share with an handicapped persons .
For local people and disabled people the goal was to spend and share of good moment with international students. It gave them the chance to travel because student were explaining how life is in their country.
The activity was divided into two parts. First, we went to the building of the organization. There, during the "quiet time", some volunteers of the organization explained to the international students what is the goal and the missions of the organization. After that, we all introduced ourselves to one another and especially to the group with whom we are going to do the activity with. During this time we talked about our lives, where we come from, what is our story, etc.
Secondly, we went to Jardiland (a flowers, animals, scented candles, decorations, etc. shop). During this time, each students (with the help of volunteers from the organization ALEDD) accompanied a teenager in a wheelchair. The goal of the activity was to touch and to smell things (disabled teenagers were also blind, and so the idea was to make their other senses work).
Everyone got to work on their communication skills, learning how to share with others, to travel without going anywhere, to break from everyday life.
International students got to practice French, to develop their adaptability, autonomy and initiative skills.
