The initiative, in collaboaration with 2hands Macerata, Legambiente Marche, AIACE Italia and NonCiPiove, aimed to involve international students in the realization both during their mobility period and in the future, when they return to their countries of origin, of activities aimed at protecting and caring for the environment and usable spaces. Furthermore, it is our wish to bring Erasmus and international students and members and Italian students closer together through the themes of environmental protection and sustainability, using them, which are common to all, to create a multicultural bridge of exchange and dialogue that goes beyond the mere realization of the activity. Through the moment that we call "beer after cigarettes" we want to get the message across that even a small gesture such as throwing cigarette butts on the ground harms us and the environment.
The activity took place throughout the day on Saturday 20 May, at the 'La Bussola' chalet in Civitanova Marche (MC). In the morning, after breakfast with all the participants in the initiative, the cleaning of the beach area identified as the site of the clean-up continued, then after a break for lunch, the participants were able to enjoy the day at the beach between walks and beach volleyball inside the establishment's field.
The clean-up was divided into various activities to make the initiative more interesting, including "beer after cigarettes", i.e. at the end of filling a recycled glass bottle with cigarette butts, a refreshing non-alcoholic drink was provided along with snacks and fruit, in this way the playful aspect of the game, helped to create an internal competition for the international students. 130kg of waste was collected and sorted at the end of the day.
