Every year on the second day of the second week of February, thousands of people around the world come together to participate in events and activities aimed at raising awareness of online security issues. The theme of this year's Safer Internet Day is "Together for a Better Internet."
ESN Osijek joined the initiative of the Center for Safer Internet and the Center for Missing and Abused Children with the aim to encourage and promote safer and more responsible use of technology and mobile devices among children and youth.
Tomislav Levak, a lecturer at The Academy of Arts and Culture (a partner institution of ESN Osijek), held an interactive lecture on the importance of developing critical thinking and access to published media and defining the phenomena of fake news and disinfodemic that violate the boundaries between secure and threatening internet.
As this was the first year for ESN Osijek to do this type of event, we put the target audience on the kids, more precisely primary and secondary school children, as well as the high schoolers. The interactive online lecture and Kahoot quiz were attended by seventh-grade students of the Fran Krsto Frankopan Elementary School from Osijek. They played via the shared screen of their professors (2*12 pupils).
