Goal of the Activity

Learning about other cultures is one of advantages of Erasmus Programme. We gave international students a possibility to go further, to live a local tradition of the "Notte dei falò" on their own and to immerse themselves into apulian culture.

Description

On Saint Joseph’s Night in Monopoli take place traditional celebrations. On the streets, in different parts of the town inhabitants set 12 bonfires, there are organized parades going from one bonfire to another, music can be heard on every corner and in every little shop it is possible to taste “zeppole”. This all we experienced with our international students. Once arrived to Monopoli we showed them it’s the most important and beautiful places. After the city tour we spent some time enjoying local cuisine. In the evening we took part in festivities of "Notte dei falò", dancing and singing all together around bonfires and on the streets of Monopoli.
