Goal of the Activity

To inspire local citizens seeing the Flag Parade and such displays of colors, realizing the internationality of their city and creating awareness. It is a unique showcase of colors creating an international atmosphere in Rome

Description

The "Flag Parade" was organized within the Erasmus Cultural Meeting (ICE) held in Rome from November 9 to 12, 2023. The ICE is an event promoted by ESN Italia that involves numerous Erasmus students and young people from all Italian universities, gathered in Rome to spend three days immersed in cultural activities. The event kicked off with a Conference featuring distinguished guests representing Italian and European institutions. This year, the Opening Conference addressed the theme of the democratic participation of young people and the European elections of 2024. Among the guests and speakers, there was also a representative from the European Parliament in Italy, Dr. Fabrizio Spada.

Since the theme of this year's ICE perfectly aligned with the EGIA project, we decided to integrate a Mov'in Europe event on this occasion.

Specifically, we chose to organize the "Flag Parade" on Saturday, November 11. More than 300 students in mobility at Italian universities, accompanied by volunteers and members of ESN Italia, paraded through the streets of central Rome with their respective flags, joining in a display of dances and music and representing the ESN values: unity in diversity, diversity in unity. It was a unique showcase of colors creating an international atmosphere in Rome  that inspired local citizens seeing such displays of colors, realizing the internationality of their

city, and creating awareness.

During the parade, special emphasis was given to the flags of EGIA and the European Union, positioned at the forefront. The ICE "Flag Parade" is arguably the most significant moment of this event, giving voice to young students in mobility.
