Erasmus means integration, acceptance and diversity. In order to understand the difficulties of social integration, mental health and psychological problems caused by its failure we wanted to organise a movie night, related with mental health. We chose to watch the movie "Infinitely Polar Bear", which raises awareness about this topic. After that, we planned a follow-up discussion about the movie we watched as well as social inclusion and mental health in general.

🎥 Movie Information: The selected movie «Infinitely Polar Bear» narrates the story of Cameron Stuart, a man that suffers from bipolar disorder. Also known as maniac depression, this mental disorder causes periods of depression and abnormally elevated moods. Cameron is married to Maggie and is a father of two daughters. After Cameron is fired from his job, he has a mental breakdown which forces him to leave his family and institutionalize. When he is released and Maggie decides to go to a business school in New York, they decide that he will move back in and take care of the girls for eighteen months. He agrees despite his fears and takes full responsibility of their two spirited daughters that are initially embarrassed to live with him. As it is expected, this coexistence leads to a series of quirky, funny and sometimes frightening episodes which shows in a marvelous way the social character of the movie.

We were very satisfied because despite the issues we faced when organizing that event, it was very successful and the attendance rate was according to what we had planned. The international students seemed to like the movie as well as the follow up discussion because they were motivated and engaged throughout.
