The fashion industry is one of the largest sources of pollution in the world, with 92 million tons of textile waste dumped in landfills each year (Quantis). Its production accounts for 20% of world water consumption (WWF).
In the post-Covid era, online clothing resale platforms have experienced an increased influx thanks to increased awareness and interest in crucial issues such as environment and sustainability.
A.N.G.E.L.O. has always promoted a conscious and sustainable consumption of fashion. This commitment is concretely developed not only through the sale of vintage and second-hand luxury garments, thus contributing to recycling, but also encouraging its customers to give their contribution to the circular economy by selling the items they no longer use directly to A.N.G.E.L.O.
Bringing erasmus students to this huge event, national level known, has the goal to let them dive into the world of sustainable fashion.
On Sunday morning we gathered our erasmus students at Rimini's station and we took the bus to Lugo. Once arrived, ESN volunteers explained where to find the multiple stands participating at the festival. So they let them free to explore loosing themselves around looking out for goods, objects and clothes. Sometimes erasmus students asked volunteers some advice about what to buy or how to deal with sellers. We spent lunch time in small groups making them try typical food from our region, Emilia Romagna: passatelli, piadina, tigelle and so on. Some students bought second hand luxury bags, other went for boots and pieces of clothes. It was a chill Sunday exploring the world of vintage and sustainable fashion.
