General Purpose and Goals
The overarching purpose was to provide cognitive and practical training for the members of our associations on various topics related to ESN as well as their personal and professional development. Specifically, our goals were:
- Development and Enhancement of Skills: To develop and enhance both soft and hard skills of every volunteer, regardless of their prior knowledge level.
- Promotion of Collaboration: To foster a spirit of collaboration within the Athens Region among volunteers and between the associations.
- Strengthening Interaction: To strengthen the interaction between older and newer members of the associations and facilitate the transfer of knowledge and experiences from the former to the latter.
Description of the Activity
This activity was a 2-day training event for the five Athens-based ESN sections mentioned above. It stemmed from our shared need to train both our new and existing members. After some discussions, we decided it would be more beneficial and interesting to collaborate to meet this common need and organize this event together.
The process began with finding the time and location, and tasks were divided within the team. Once these were determined, the participation form was promoted for participants, facilitators, and volunteers. The team was selected, and the agenda creation and facilitator coordination started. Concurrently, all logistics were handled to ensure the event was free of charge for participants, and communication channels and social events were organized. Before the event, the agenda was sent to participants along with a booklet containing all necessary information (see here). During the event, there was excellent cooperation in coordinating everything. The work didn't end there, as after the event, certificates, photos, and materials from the sessions were shared with the participants via drive to remember the experience and what they learned.
