The aim of the project Local Erasmus Games Vienna WS22-Road to Madrid was to create an inclusive sport event where exchange students from different universities can measure their skills in volleyball, futsal, and basketball for a whole day. Via the Erasmus Games we created a setting where exchange students from different nationality, religion and background could get to know each other and unite through the universal language of sport and healthy competition. Furthermore, the project Local Erasmus Games Vienna WS22-Road to Madrid is in absolute compliance with the causes of ESN as the teams were formed (according to the rulebook of International Erasmus Games ESN) in an inclusive, mixed gender manner (Social Inclusion). Sport in general, but especially team sports are the perfect way to raise awareness and promote Health & Well-being among the exchange students of ESN Austria.
The Local Erasmus Games Vienna WS22-Road to Madrid took place on 1st of October 2022 in Vienna. Despite the fact that the event was completely built up from scratch, we can state that there is a high demand and interest for such sport events among the exchange students of ESN Austria. All together we received 135 applications across seven education institutes (universities and FHs) only from Vienna.
