The goal of this activity was present countries (Germany and Ireland) and to teach new languages to children in a funny way.
Also, international students got the opportunity to test their animation and teaching skills.
The activity was divided into two parts:
- First, international students, with a powerpoint, presented their countries to the children. From that, children had a lot of questions to ask to international students.
- Secondly, we did two games to teach English and German. The first game was "le téléphone arabe" (Chinese whispers). Players formed a circle. The first player chose a word in a foreign language (for example "guten tag") and whispered it the second player and so on. This game was very interesting because children are from different origins and so they know different languages (Arabic, Bosnian, etc.). Thus, a lot of languages were used to play this game. The second game was to draw different parts of the bodies with the right colors. Colors were announced in German or English.
Children have learned many new words (colors, greetings, etc.) in English and German. They also have learned more about Ireland and Germany.
International students also have learned new words. But they taught them new words and developed new skills (animation, teaching, etc.)
