Objective / Goal of the activity

As we were in Health & Well Being Week we tried to decrease drinking alcohol among ESNers and Erasmus people by replacing healthy Juices instead of it! By doing this we tried to decrease the bad image of ESN and tried to show all Erasmus students and ESNers that we can definitely enjoy without alcoholic events. By organizing this activity in one of the local Parks we wanted to help Erasmus students to include themselves in local places and feel more comfortable while they are away in Erasmus. Furthermore, by serving them enough amount of water during JuicePong activity we put importance of staying hydrated.

Description

JuicePong was super easy game. It was the Juice version of BeerPong. Activity was held in one of the local Park called ‘Özgürlük Parkı’, which was the main meeting point of locals in sunny days. The park was also the home of many sweet cats, which we all were super happy to play with in game breaks. The event was on Monday and we went to Park around 17:00 with the total of 20 Erasmus students and ESNers. There were 8 teams. Each team was made of 2 people as one Erasmus student and one ESNer. And there were 4 OCs. There were 3 types of Juices (orange, apple & cherry) and lots of water to serve participants during the game. The participant fee was 10 Turkish Lira which we bought Juices with and the still waters were sponsored by the international office of Marmara University. The cups of the JuicePong were reusable, with what we tried to promote sustainability. The reusable cups were sponsored by one of the local club called Shine Terrace and we are planning to use them in coming activities. The winner team got 2 healthy cereal bars as a present! We’ve ended activity by cleaning the part of the Park which we’ve played in.

Result of the activity

As it was a non-alcoholic game we were expecting least participants in the beginning. However there were more participants than we expected. That’s why we even needed to go shopping for more Juice! We can definitely say that the sun showed its kindness by shining what made the activity more entertaining. Sweet local cats also made the activity more fun by trying to catch balls while we were playing the games. Without any doubt the best part of the activity was that all participants were trying to enjoy the game instead of competing. The winner team even shared one of their cereal bars to the second place group. All in all, it was a really healthy game!
