Goal of the Activity
- The participants:
- understand basic dos and don’ts of talking about mental health
- understand they need to be aware of their limitations as non-professionals when approaching the topic
- are able to express why it might be challenging to talk about mental health
- are aware of the fact that mental health is highly subjective and what might be helpful for one person might be harmful for another and the key is to communicate sensitively
- The workshop has started conversations between the participants during the rest of the teambuilding about what are some things that are helpful for each of them.
Description
Workshop for members focused on the current topic of Mental Health. As an intro workshop into this topic we chose the topic “How to talk about mental health”. Participants examined what it is mental health, what can be the reasons why we might not want to talk about mental health and then got to try model conversations with a role play where they’d experience both a supportive and a dismissive environment to be able to better pinpoint dos and don’ts of such conversations.
