The goal of our hike to Creux du Van was to provide an opportunity for members of ESN Bern to engage in outdoor physical activity, connect with nature. By organizing this hike, we aimed to promote health and well-being among our members, foster a sense of adventure and exploration, and create memorable experiences that strengthen the bonds within our community.
Our adventure began at 8:35 at the train station, where eager participants gathered to embark on our hike to Creux du Van. Prior to departure, two organizers made a quick stop at Migros to stock up on snacks for the journey. After a scenic train ride, we arrived at Noiraigue at 10:03, where facilities including a bathroom were available.
The hike lasted approximately 6 hours. We made ascent through the forested trails, surrounded by the serene beauty of nature. We enjoyed a leisurely one-hour lunch break while being in the breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
Our return journey included periodic breaks to rest and recharge, with one particularly refreshing stop where some members dipped their feet in the nearby river. We arrived back at the train station at 16:00, concluding our exhilarating trek through the Swiss countryside.
Despite the physical demands of the hike, spirits remained high throughout the day, with participants bonding over shared experiences and forging new friendships. Following the hike, some members spontaneously decided to unwind with a well-deserved beer, further solidifying the sense of camaraderie and adventure that defines our ESN community.
