Introducing the traditional Turkish Henna Night to Erasmus Students and creating a space where they can experience cultural exchange and feel more connected to the local community while having fun.
Participants gathered at the place where the event took place, and a brief introduction about the event’s purpose and the flow was given. Since the night was planned as a playful parody of a traditional ceremony, a “bride” and “groom” and their families were chosen from the group. And the groom’s family asked for permission to marry the bride and tried to convince them to marry. Afterwards, students circled the bride with candles and henna was applied to everyone who wanted to get. Traditions are explained to students. Afterwards, traditional Turkish music was
played. Traditional dances like “halay” were taught and danced. Throughout the evening, cultural elements were showcased, and an enjoyable atmosphere was created, allowing everyone to experience this beloved Turkish tradition in a fun and memorable way.
This event was carried out in the framework of "SI Days"
