Every year, ESN Strasbourg comes to the rescue of the Restos du Coeur for a food collection for the needy.
Les Restos du Coeur is an association that provides food aid to people in need and with the current situation it is essential for them to get a maximum of food to help as many people as possible. And that's exactly what we did! ESN Strasbourg volunteers and international students gathered early Friday morning and worked as a team until Saturday evening with other Restos du Coeur volunteers. They went to different supermarkets in Strasbourg to encourage people to give back to the community by adding a little something to our big basket.
Here's a little video to show you a bit of the atmosphere of the collection from previous years

Even though this year's collection took place under special circumstances covid edition, it was a crucial moment to help people in need. Every year, the supermarkets in which we work collect more than hundreds of tons of food and this year was no exception: we collected 127 tons compared to 140 last year, despite the shortened opening hours of the supermarkets! This project led by our Social Inclusion Committee was a great success because helping people in need is a success in itself! In addition, the international students also had a great time, helping others, practicing their French and immersing themselves a little more in the local community. What more can you ask for on your Saturday morning?
