As ESN Italy we strongly believe that we can and should do something to prevent the spread of STDs among young people. For this reason the primary aim of our initiative was to educate young people about HIV/AIDS, reduce stigma surrounding the disease, and encourage healthy behaviors such as safe sex practices and regular testing. We also aimed to foster collaboration between different organizations working towards a common goal of promoting health and well-being.
ESN Italy, in collaboration with Giovani CRI and SISM Italia, launched an initiative for World AIDS Day aimed at raising awareness about HIV/AIDS, reducing stigma, and promoting preventive measures among young people. The initiative involved organizing events, workshops, and a social media campaign across various cities in Italy. It focused on educating young people aged 18-30, including international students and ESN volunteers, about HIV/AIDS transmission, prevention, and treatment. Key components included a joint press release highlighting collective efforts and the #LoveRed campaign by the Italian Red Cross, emphasizing destigmatization and support. The initiative successfully reached a wide audience through physical events and online platforms, empowering individuals to discuss and take action on HIV/AIDS-related issues. The close collaboration with Giovani CRI and SISM Italia enhanced the initiative's impact, fostering increased awareness and behavior change.
