Learning the basics of sign language! Say our names, say Hi, Bye and Thanks and maybe learn some basic information about deaf people.
A professional sign language teacher who is deaf himself since birth gave us a two-hour-introduction to german sign language. With a quiz, role games and always interacting we quickly learned to communicate just with our hands, mouths and body. We thank Matthias for this great insight in a widely unknown language (yes, it's a real language :p).
We can present ourselves in german sign language, know the basics the sign language alphabet and a bit of history; we gave ourselves "sign language names" (short names or nicknames) and played little role games. We can now have a little conversation with deaf people and are not new to the area anymore.
