The main objective of this activity has been to bring the different European volunteering opportunities closer to young people between 12 and 18 years old, as well as to raise awareness of the importance of the European Union in our daily lives. For this purpose, different workshops were held to inform about these opportunities and to advise young people about different mobility opportunities, not only the well-known Erasmus + grant.
On 9 April 2024, ESN UPO organised an event at IES Hermanos Machado as part of the EGIA (Erasmus Generation in Action) project, funded to promote volunteering in the European Union. The high school, recognised as an Ambassador of the European Parliament and beneficiary of the Jean Monnet Project, hosted three talks aimed at ESO and Vocational Training students. Volunteers Carolina López Alcalá, Carmen Fernández-Montes and David Gómez López, together with Erasmus student Katrin Petkova, presented ESN and its opportunities, Erasmus + projects, and encouraged participation in volunteering activities. After the talks, a space for interaction was offered where students could ask questions and enjoy refreshments, enthusiastically receiving information about higher education, ESN and the upcoming European elections.
